ethics as paper in psychology

The practice of psychology around the world is governed by ethics of some kind. we learn about them from the day we learn psychology. Guidelines of how one has to conduct research on humans animals and deal with clients are laid down by governing bodies.
Most of the ethics i learned are small chapters in textbooks. i was wondering if this was adequate and why do we take the existing guidelines for granted. I do respect and agree with a lot of the principles of practicing psychology , but shouldn't we go beyond what we know and develop a newer code of ethics.
Getting students to debate about the ethical question psychology throws up will be interesting.

conscious decisions

“I am fat and I will never find anyone who will love me”
How many times have said that to ourselves or have others say that about themselves? I hear it almost all the time with a few variations here and there. People seem to have no faith in themselves or in anything good anymore, or maybe we have come to point where we all love being low. We love the sadness and the misery that comes with our self made decisions of how we don’t deserve anything good. We walk into relationships thinking and hoping for the worst and then when it happens we say “ ah I knew it I am worthless”. Don’t we get it we did this to ourselves.
We plan for the worst and we get the worst because somewhere we act on all the misery we are preparing ourselves for. We get what we fear for. As the old saying goes be careful what you wish for- be careful what you hope and prepare for.
If we were to earnestly ask ourselves why don’t we deserve the best? Why don’t we deserve to be happy or loved? What would we know about ourselves that would tell us no you don’t deserve to be happy because ……….
We all believe in a benevolent and loving GOD yet when it comes to us we believe that GOD is out to get us or we don’t deserve his/ hers (to be politically correct) mercy or love. Why would GOD pick one person out of all the living creatures he created? Which holy book tells us GOD will get one person in all of creation and make sure that person would live miserably ever after. Our misery is mostly self-created. We choose the disasters in our life when we tell ourselves we are not good enough we become “not good enough”. When we think of all the negative things that can happen to us negative happens because we prepare for the worst and the worst does happen because we work towards it. There are times when bad things do happen when we plan for the best. But lets accept the bad lets embrace it, it’s a reality bad things and good things will always happen.
Blaming ourselves or finding fault with ourselves and fighting with ourselves doesn’t help AT ALL. Yes we do have faults but it’s not the end of the world. We all our fat even those who are size zero feel fat. Everyone feels they don’t deserve love or something that is good. Instead of making us humble or grateful theses ideas make us feel low. whats the point in feeling so low and down and out? None of us are adequate but we can feel adequate we can forgive ourselves and be happy and look forward to all the good things in life ☺

happiness is???

What is happiness and being happy? i have heard this question so many times in so many contexts. I really used to wonder what it was, still do but i guess its not worth questioning. no i am not being cynical, just real. why do we need to waste time pondering over what is happiness when we can be happy :) 

Happiness is one of the loveliest feelings and it such a sweet feeling too. By dissecting it or questioning it we loose some of the finer things associated with it. Yes we need to know why we feel happy or what makes us happy but not to a point where we kill the feeling. Happiness doesnt come conditionally its a choice and a conscious  one at that. We choose to be happy as much as we choose our clothes. Why spend time wondering what will make us happy or what happiness is just be happy instead. like someone said ignorance is bliss........ I am blissfully happy :)

what if??

what if we had been together ?

what if it was a long happy day?

what if things stayed the same?

what if we never cried?

what if we only laughed?

what if it was like the first day we met?

what if we didnt argue?

what if we didnt have differecnces?

what if we agreed all the time?

what if we were the same?

what if i wanted whatever you wanted?

what if we never got angry with each other?

what if life was one happy day?

what if we never felt lonely?

what if i didnt shed any tear?

what if  what if? 

what is is 

if i didnt have the tears how would i know how precious every smile is,

every argument made me feel more alive, each argument gave me hope,

every angry word told me there were sweeter ones to come,

every sad day gave me hope for a happier one,

every difference made me realise how unique we were, 

the differences were more precious than the similarities, 

i had something to look forward to with each difference.

each difference meant a conversation.

if we had remained the same would we feel the way we do? 

we would have missed out on the deeper things.

if we didnt cry how would i know who would wipe my tears?

if things were the static would we ever grow ? 

would  we the people we are today?

would we know how how much we mean to one another if we stayed the same?

would i ever reflect like this things were the same?  

i wish that this was a perfect world that sadness was a distant memory,

i wish for an end to loneliness and a deep sense of peace,

i wish for this and much more .........

but reality is more precious than imagined perfection ........

love is....

The Bible tells us patient, kind etc. Its the loveliest of all emotions, felt by animals and humans alike. yes animals too just look at the way they nurture their young or look at the way your pet looks at you and cares for you. Love is worth every minute of it even when it leads nowhere. All relationships are based on love God loves us our parents love us so do our friends , its the expression which differs. Some people show their love in the most obvious ways some are subtle. However love is expressed it is never corrupt . It varies in its intensity but its pure. love can never be impure neither can it be false. love doesn't die either, hatred can die but love is so precious that it can survive the worst. 

Love transcends time and space and even death. Viktor Frankl a concentration camp survivor  would often remember his deceased wife with fondness. It didn't matter to him that she was in another realm and was not physically present the fact that they loved one another was enough. A single act of kindness or love goes a long way. the pleasantness lingers on . Since love is so sacred it is difficult to corrupt it. its difficult to let go of it. its not easy to give up on love. Every minute of it is divine even wen it has to end. 

I have always wondered why people who fall out of love overanalyze their relationship and conclude what they had wasn't true love. if they were asked about their relationship while it was still working out they may have had a different story. How can something so powerful, so beautiful, so divine just die? The answer is it doesn't, love goes on and on. love cant die it cant be false. what was once true will remain true even though the circumstances might change.The circumstances in most cases are unpleasant but not something that are not worth fighting for. Every relationship is made up of 2 or more lonely people who are need someone in their life. despite their faults these people need love and deserve every minute of it. mistakes will be made by either one of them some easily forgivable some not. The mistakes are disappointing to the other partner who expects nothing less than perfection. Fights take place each one accuses the other. In all of this the couple dosent realize that they have someone to fight with someone who will listen to them. Bad as it may get the couple still have each other which better than not having anything at all. The differences maybe big or small but they are not something that cant be overcome. Why do we let die so easily? is loneliness better than having someone with you? Love is to be cherished, nurtured, protected(at all costs) . It shouldn't be neglected or left to die. When everything else in life dies, when everything else fades love is all that will endure :)

life is beautiful ! i firmly believe i am blessed . many years ago a professor of mine said i am blessed because GOD has taken special care of me. my professor was not extraordinary on the contrary he was an ordinary man. what made him extraordinary was his optimism and unwavering faith in god. I am blessed too every day of my life has been a blessing every smile every tear has been a gift from GOD every waking minute i am blessed. I feel truly alive today for the simple reason i can feel. I feel joy , pain, anger, excitement , love and so much more. Everyone who has been a part of my life has been an inspiration. I am so glad that sad things have happened because happier things have followed. things that seemed unfair at one time have become stepping stones for me. Everything falls into place a little patience and a prayer have got done wonders. My joy comes from a deep sense of peace. life makes me smile. I have never been deprived of laughter even in the most serious situations. Its almost like GOD has a special place for me. I  have never had to go one day without laughter or a smile. this is a blessing . GOd didn't send me comedians instead he gave me the ability to be happy and to accept his will. I can see things not as catastrophes but as events that will come and go . for those of you who read this i hope u get the same blessings I hope you get the same blessings and joy I have :)
